If you believe you are on the right track, KEEP GOING! So many times, we start to work at something and stop before completion. We start thinking it’s getting too hard or things are going much slower than we anticipated. The game of basketball is a journey, not a sprint. You won’t know where it will take you if you don’t keep going.
As a freshman in college, I was ready to return home during the semester because I was homesick and not starting. Luckily, an older gentleman walked by my dorm room and saw me packing my things, frustrated. He asked me where I was going. I said home. Why? Because I’m not starting, and I should be. Deonte, they made it to the National Championship game last year without you, and you’re not that good. Standing there shocked, I couldn’t believe what I heard. He told me to go home for the break and come back. He would help me to get where I wanted to be. We trained 3 times a week after practice for about 5 weeks straight. I started hitting the weights 3 times a week. He taught me things I didn’t know. Before I looked up, I became the starting point guard in the last 5 weeks of the season and eventually was considered one of the best point guards in junior college basketball.
Things don’t look like they’re going your way, but they are if you figure out how to keep going. Sometimes, we need to be humbled and see things as they are. Nothing should stop you from knowing where you are going and where you want to be.
