New Year, New Opportunities

What will you do with your new year? At the end of every year, you should spend time reflecting. This helps us all appreciate where we have been,

be grateful for what we accomplished, and be excited about what is coming.

Reflection is something that players should do after games and practice. Spending time thinking about what went well can be a rewarding experience. Even if you only got better at one or two things during the

game. Reflecting on areas that you can grow from is really important. We have talked before about how there are no losses but only lessons. This your chance to be honest with yourself and take accountability for you to improve. Reflection helps you chart a plan to move forward. Moving forward is something that all players must do to get to new levels.

If you’re a hooper and you’re not spending time reflecting, you are missing out on huge opportunities to get better.

Here are a few ways you can reflect:

  1. Sit in a quiet place for 5-10 minutes and just look back.

  2. If you have written or video documentation to look back over, review it. You will be surprised by what you find.

  3. Ask someone you trust to be honest with you about your performance or areas you can improve.
