You have make your game your own. Your mindset , your approach to the game, how you take the skills you’re developing and apply them to your game becomes your make up and identity when you’re playing the game.
Is your mindset to be the best player on the floor? You should always step on to the floor with the self confidence that you posses in everything you need to dominate the game. The person in front can’t guard you. Having this mindset will help you separate yourself from the competition if you believe like this and work like this.
Your approach to game is also noticeable. Are you being extra playful before practice or before games? Are you the player that’s up stretching/warming up 20 minutes it’s time to start? Are you on the sideline doing ball handling drills or mental imagery drills? All these little things matter are being watched.
One thing about skill work is that you must take it and make it yours. Skill work puts you in to position where your skill and confidence grows for you execute when it matters. When you know that you are getting better every one else does when you do it with confidence.
When you can put all three of these together you will find yourself performing well and making an impact on your team.
Step 1. Identify who you want to be as a player.
Step 2. Make your mind up that you’re willing to do to become that player.
Step 3. Approach the game with respect for yourself and the competition.
Remember lack luster effort gets you lack luster results! A healthy mindset, approach and working for it will get you higher level results.
