Habits

Habits are the repetition of the same thought or physical action develops into a habit which, repeated frequently enough, becomes an automatic reflex.

Players with the best habits as oftentimes the best players on the floor. Playing in athletic stance, catching the ball in triple threat, playing off two feet in the paint, following through on your shot.

Even more important habits are prioritizing your sleep, your nutrition, taking care of your body. It’s recommended that kids ages 6-12 get 9 to 12 hours of sleep per day and teenagers 13-18 get 8-10 hours per day. Your nutrition can help you feel more focused before/during games, it can also aid in being able to help you recover faster. Don’t skip these important areas that happen off the court.

Every one of the skills listed above are only developed through consistent repetitions and discipline. This is why the best players become good, they don’t get bored with doing the little things right over and over again. They understand that the better their habits are the better they will perform.

What’s one new habit that you can start to help you reach your goals? How will you measure the progress of these habits?
