Your Next Big Things is a Little Thing

Rob Yanders, a legendary Missouri State basketball player and fellow baseball coach, once said, “Your next big thing is a little thing.” It’s been over a year since his passing, and he was also a great friend and mentor to me. At one of his basketball camps, he implored the attendees not to focus on big steps but on the small ones.

This message is powerful because it reminds us that it’s up to you to take action to achieve what you desire. It reminds us to take small steps forward to make enormous progress. It also reminds us that your journey is yours and that your intentions and work will determine where you will end up.

Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "If you can't fly, then run; if you can't run, then walk; if you can't walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” As you go through this week and things seem hard or impossible, hold on to these words.

Remember these things along your journey.

1. Setbacks are setups preparing you for what’s to come.

2. There are no losses, only lessons along the way.

3. Enjoy and get the most out of every day because you don’t know how long you have

to enjoy it.
